After a disappointing day we quickly move on to day three. Felt gutted about COTTON MILL who was going just as well as SIMONSIG when unseating Denis O’Regan, and then don’t get me started on the last fence fiasco with SIZING EUROPE – why was it not clear what was happening? Hope Dicky Johnson, the photographer and the horse are ok.
Anyway, the photo, courtesy of Emma-Louise Kerwin and her site here – please check it out, is of a more happy note. The awesome HUNT BALL.
So, here are Thursday’s selections! Fingers crossed for a better day!
JEWSON NOVICES CHASE
PEDDLARS CROSS – (nb) (unplaced)entered for this rather than the Arkle. Said a lot about the thoughts of Sprinter Sacre from the McCain yard. A top class horse in his own right and I reckon will be too good for these. Win bet
PETTIFOUR –(unplaced) ran a fantastic race here on his return in November and then contested some hot races afterwards. The ground will suit, so will the trip and the course. In a very competitive handicap he must have a chance. (each way)
ALBERTAS RUN – (treble)(2nd – 10-1) has won the last two runnings of this and has ideal conditions again today. He will be thereabouts again I’m sure and will have a good battle with RIVERSIDE THEATRE to the line. Win bet
BIG BUCKS –(won 5-6) will win again, nothing can touch this class stayer, so I’m going for a forecast with SMAD PLACE.
BYRNE GROUP PLATE
THE COCKNEY MACKEM – (nap)(2nd -10-1) has very solid form and looked comfortable upped in distance, the further couple of furlongs should play into his hands and I reckon he will run a cracker at a great price (each way)
FULKE WALWYN KIM MUIR CHALLENGE
THE HOLLINWELL –(unplaced) Ferdy Murphy has won this a few times and he may have another chance here. Has run some decent races without shining this year. Ferdy will have him bang on. (each way). I am also having an each way flutter on BRACKLOON HIGH.(unplaced)
So lets hope day three is better than day two. Some big priced horses here today, yet some real each way value. Remember, these are my selections, and I am not suggesting you follow them. I’m sure you won’t after today’s results. If you do have a gamble, be sensible!
