The Oaks

So here we are with another Classic weekend! Fantastic stuff! The blog did ok again on Thursday with OPINION POLL (5-4) winning and STIPULATE coming 2nd at 14-1. That would have been a great nap, just got pipped though.

On to Epsom. I will do my normal best three and then cover all the Epsom races too. Lets hope we have a great Oaks on Friday and some winners!

BETTERBETTERBETTER 1605 EPSOM – (nap) (unplaced) is bred to do the job and whilst the run at Chester was disappointing I have a sneaky feeling the better ground and undulations will suit this one.

AMOUR PROPRE 2000 HAYDOCK – (nb) (unplaced) is a class horse and won a Group 3 at the Curragh last time. Has a real touch of class and should be too good for these.

CLINICAL 1340 EPSOM – (treble) (WON 7-1) was third in this last year on good ground and then progressed and went on to win three races at Listed class. Another step up required but it can be bridged

Here are my Epsom selections as promised other than the two above :
BLACK SPIRIT e/w 215 (unplaced)
WORTHADD 250 (unplaced)
NORSE BLUES 325 (unplaced)
LADY GORGEOUS 1650 (3rd – 5-1)
FAMOUS POET 525 (unplaced)

My trainer to follow Declan Carroll has one first time out at Newcastle JOMARI 1330 – worth a stab? (unplaced)

Stats as of 1/6//12
WINS 42/243 = 17.2%
NAPS 15/69 = 21.7%
PLACED 60/243 = 24.7%
WIN OR PLACED 102/243 = 42%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Thursday – awesome Sandown card

Only a quick update tonight! Just got in from work at 2230 and knackered! Pleased to see another nap in Naseem Alyasmeem (9-4) came home.

Here are Thursday’s three!

STIPULATE 2025 SANDOWN – (nap) (2nd – 14-1) was impressive first time out at Newmarket, the ground must have been the excuse last time!

OPINION POLL 1920 SANDOWN – (nb) (WON – 5-4) top stayer and a class horse, won well at Meydan last time. Has to go well!

GOLDEN WATERS 1815 SANDOWN – (treble) (unplaced) on a decent mark and has conditions that should suit, must have a solid place claim.

Stats as of 31/5/12
WINS 41/234 = 17.5%
NAPS 15/68 = 22%
PLACED 59/234 = 25.2%
WIN OR PLACED 100/234 = 42.7%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Wednesday

Was disappointed with GHOSTWING on Tuesday. However, good old EFISTORM ran other cracker in defeat. Looking forward to the Oaks and Derby this weekend but not studied any of the races yet. Only a short blog tonight and won’t have time for on tomorrow as working until late!
Here’s my three for tomorrow
NASEEM ALYASMEEM 2045 FOLKESTONE – (nap) (WON 9-4) ran a cracking race las week at Leicester and must go close on that form!
ASTROPHYSICAL JET 1905 BEVERLEY – (nb) (unplaced) was formerly a group class horse and I can’t believe how poorly he has ran lately. This is an ideal race for him to bounce back, show his class and grow in confidence
RED INCA 2105 BEVERLEY – (treble) (unplaced) ran well for this yard over the hurdles this season and looks the type to be a good dual purpose horse.
Stats as of 30/5/12
WINS 40/231 = 17.3%
NAPS 15/67 = 22.3%
PLACED 58/231 = 25.1%
WIN OR PLACED 98/231 = 42.4%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Tuesday 29th May

Monday wasn’t too bad as the nap obliged as I thought it would do (ARTIGIANO 11-10). It actually went odds on at one point so the return wasn’t that bad. I always prefer to try and find better priced horses however. Yet, sometimes you have to opt for the sure thing. At least that win took my nap percentage up to 21.5%.

So on to Tuesday’s selections and hopefully a better priced few for you.

GHOSTWING 1430 CHEPSTOW – (nap) (unplaced) is potentially well handicapped and was a course and distance winner on good to firm here a couple of years ago. Has switched yards and must have a chance, and Sophie Doyle is a top female jock to steer him there.

JUST BOND 1540 RIPON – (nb) (unplaced) was a bit disappointing last time but that was on ground slower than suitable. Has won four timeson good to firm ground at a mile and been placed and been placed twelve times on good to firm at various distances around a mile. Must have a sniff.

EFISTORM 1520 LINGFIELD – (treble) (2nd – 5-1) is in a hot streak, won well at Windsor last week. Goes well here to, must have a chance of at least a place.

Stats as of 29/5/12
WINS 39/228 = 17.1%
NAPS 14/66 = 21.2%
PLACED 58/228 = 25.4%
WIN OR PLACED 97/228 = 42.5%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Monday 28th May

Sunday proved to be another profitable day even though I had put a very ambitious nap up! SAMITAR storming home in the Irish 1000 Guineas at 12-1 was a right result. We also had a place with MRS PEACOCK (7-1). I received a few nice thank you tweets too from people who read the blog. Much appreciated, but please remember to read the last few lines of this blog!! I get them wrong alot too!
So on to Monday, let’s hope the run continues.
ARTIGIANO 1430 LEICESTER – (nap) (WON – 11/10) was a close third the other week on his racecourse debut at the Dante meeting. I expect him to have come on for that and the Godolphin string are starting to get there.
ELYSIAN 1600 LEICESTER – (nb) (unplaced) I don’t normally tip up a horse making its debut as anything can happen. However, looking at this one’s impecable breeding (GALILEO/ECHELON) and the top yard and owners, it may be a class act!
TANTAMOUNT 1545 KEMPTON – (treble) (unplaced) represents a yard in fine form at the minute. He’s been declared a few times over the past week and pulled out due to ground worries. He ran well over 9f last time and the step up to 11f should suit.
I will also have a little dabble at my old trainer to follow DECLAN CARROLL’s horse AMAZING STAR 1850 CARLISLE (unplaced). He won over 7f in March is well treated here on that run.
Stats as of 28/5/12
WINS 39/225 = 17.3%
NAPS 14/65 = 21.5%
PLACED 57/225 = 25.3%
WIN OR PLACED 96/225 = 42.6%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Sunday and a Spark

Not too bad a day on the blog again on Saturday. A winning nap courtesy of GABRIAL (9-2) who looked pretty impressive if you can steer him that is! A couple of places also helped keep my overall percentages up. One fellow horse man had another blinding day. Martin regularly does a blog that indentifies horses that are his ‘pointers’ due to form, ground, distance etc. Today 5 out of 6 of the races he covered had the winner in his blog. Check out his pointers here, you will need to follow him on twitter though and ask for his password. Well worth a read! The photo above is courtesy of him too. Cheers Martin!
YOUNG SPARKY 1415 KELSO – (nap) (unplaced) has ran twice at Hexham and ran ok on his debut yet fell on his next outing there. I’m hopeful that the better ground will suit him and with keen running types such as MAKBULLET and KEENESLAND it may set up the race for him.
ROCKABILLY 1550 KELSO – (nb) (unplaced) his record on good ground reads 131 and he was moving very well and into contention when he fell last time. Confident he will bolt in.
MRS PEACOCK 1425 FAKENHAM – (treble) (3rd -7-1) has won three times on good ground including this distance in March. Soft ground didn’t suit last time, the better surface should help him here.
I’m also going to have a little each way on SAMITAR 1540 CURRAGH, (WON – 12-1) with a short priced favourite he is a decent price at 20-1.
Stats as of 27/5/12
WINS 38/221 = 17.2%
NAPS 13/64 = 20.3%
PLACED 57/221 = 25.8%
WIN OR PLACED 95/221 = 42.9%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Saturday Tips

A decent days racing today. Im recovering from one hell of a hangover and its an effort just to do this! So todays blog post will be shorter than usual with just my bets posted, I havent had time to delve to much into form and reasoning! Here’s to a head that doesn’t bang!
GABRIAL 1430 HAYDOCK (nap) (WON 9-2)
TRADER JACK 1415 GOODWOOD (nb) (2nd – 7-1)
JOHANNES 1545 YORK (treble) (unplaced)

Then I also will be having a wager on the following :
BEYOND CONCEIT 1400 HAYDOCK (3rd 4-1)
GRUMETI 1520 GOODWOOD (2nd 5-4)
TANGERINE TREES 1500 HAYDOCK e/w (unplaced)
PRESIDENT LINCOLN 1750 HAYDOCK e/w (unplaced)
ULTIMATE 1405 YORK e/w (unplaced)

Stats as of 26/5/12
WINS 37/217 = 17.1%
NAPS 13/63 = 20.6%
PLACED 56/217 = 25.8%

TREBLES LANDED = 2

Fantastic Friday

Another decent day on the blog to keep the trend going! BEAUFORT TWELVE won at 15-2 and a second from SUPREME QUEST at 7-5. Looking forward to the weekends racing, yet there is a multitude of racing on Friday!
Love the photo above taken by Martin, sums up English horse racing tracks for me. Check out more of Martin’s photos and tips here.
GEORGE BAKER 1510 GOODWOOD – (nap) (unplaced) he is weighted right up to his best form but has got a great record on good to firm ground with all his four wins coming on the ground over 7 or 8 furlongs. Frankie up too! Must go well.
BERTOLIVER 2010 CATTERICK – (nb) (unplaced) has got the plum draw and his last run, whilst disappointing should have tuned him up! Has won on good to firm before and I’m hopeful of a great run
THIRD HALF 1605 HAYDOCK – (treble) (unplaced) ran well last year and won over 7f. The last run was over too far and too soft. The drop back to a mile and the better ground should help.
I also fancy a little flutter on BELLS O PEOVER 1945 MUSSELBURGH (unplaced) his run last time was very poor, yet has good form on good to firm (3 wins) and this trip on better ground should suit. I’m also going to highlight GLEN COUNTESS 1825 TOWCESTER (NR) I watched him win really well at Warwick the other week and this step up to fences shouldn’t be a problem.
Stats as of 25/5/12
WINS 36/209 = 17.2%
NAPS 12/62 = 19.3%
PLACED 53/209 = 25.3%
WIN OR PLACED 89/209 = 42.5%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Thursday Selections – A Brave Move?

The good run of placed or winning selections continued on Wednesday with INDIAN DAUDAIE (9-1) and REVE DU JOUR (4-1) finishing second. I knew Indian had a good run in him, however, I did highlight how much I also fancied TOP SMART, who went on a romped it by 10 lengths!!! Oh well!
Also received my conformation email today from Coral as a member of the Coral Champions Club, worth a look, and membership if you fancy it! I also won my second competition courtesy of Saturday Fantasy Racing. Its a great little comp to do on a Saturday for free and you have a league table and can win free tickets to race meets. Have a look here, and follow them on Twitter at @Satracing.
So on to Thursday and I hope this run continues, the highs are great, the barren spells are rubbish!
BRAVEHEART MOVE 1715 HAYDOCK – (nap) (unplaced) moved back up in trip, and was a smart horse around this distance a few years ago. With the ground getting firmer too to boost his chances. Three wins all on good to firm or fast/standard. Visor fitted to help too. Could go very well at a great price! Each way bet

SUPREME QUEST 1915 SALISBURY – (nb) (2nd – 7-5) ran a decent comeback race when I tipped him up on here last time. Has form on good to firm and the comeback run should put him right for a big race in this.
BEAUFORT TWELVE 1415 GOODWOOD – (treble) (WON – 15-2) won his only start as a 2 y o and then ran in the Craven on softish ground, his win was on better stuff and I’m hoping he bounces back here over a little further on quicker ground.
I also need to have a little bet on FABALU 1630 WETHERBY (NR) who needed a hell of an effort to get home and get interested last time yet when he got going he got pipped. With a more ‘focused’ run he could be very dangerous!

Stats as of 24/5/12
WINS 36/205 = 17.5%
NAPS 12/61 = 19.6%
PLACED 53/205 = 25.8%
WIN OR PLACED 89/205 = 43.4%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Wednesday’s Tips

Tuesday was another good day on the blog. A short priced winner in WESTWITHTHENIGHT (evens) and a second from HALSTATT (11-2). I’ve took the plunge today and bought a caravan too! Result! May have to go to the courses that have a caravan section in the middle.
Anyway on to the tips for Wednesday and I hope we can maintain this run.
INDIAN DAUDAIE 1820 WORCESTER – (nap) (2nd – 9-1) I gave this monkey another chance last time and it let me down yet again. I seriously like the chances of TOP SMART (WON AT 5-1 – doh!) in the same race too. However, similar to OSTLAND the other day this one has talent and I know can win a race or two. I hoping the better ground will be the deciding factor.
LAUSTRA BAD 1850 WORCESTER – (nb) (unplaced) will prefer this good ground today and is much better over this trip. Over 19 and 20 furlongs his record reads well. Hoping for a revival.
REVE DU JOUR 1420 SOUTHWELL – (treble) (2nd – 4-1) loves it here and has won or been placed on each run here this season. Runner up to Abi Scarlet last time and I’m hopeful he can reverse that.

Stats as of 23/5/12
WINS 35/202 = 17.3%
NAPS 12/60 = 20%
PLACED 52/202 = 25.7%
WIN OR PLACED 87/202 = 43%
TREBLES LANDED = 2
