As the heavens open yet again here in Sheffield, it can only be fitting to all hail the majestic, battling performance yesterday by Tidal Bay in the Lexus Chase. He has always been a class horse and has always been one of my favourites. The way Paul Nicholls has rejuvented him is testament to his skills as a trainer. It is also reflective of possibly how clueless Howard Johnson was. After his brave Hennessey second to Bob's Worth (What a piece of form that is) is was pleasing to see him get his nose infront. As or his pilot, Ruby Walsh, what a rider that man is.
As well as putting up Tidal Bay yesterday I also had Back in Focus and Supreme Carolina on what was a profitable day.
Let's hope today continues in that form.
BAKBENSCHER 1515 Newbury (nap) – (3rd – 10-3) took his tally to 4 out of 4 at Haydock last week when tipped up on my blog. That performance was facile and it looked like he had more in the tank. A 6lb rise is fair and I hope that it won't stop him making it 5 out of 5 on SUPER heavy ground.
EASTER DAY 1445 Newbury (nb) – (2nd – 9-2) is 2 from 2 over hurdles and looks a progressive type and hopefully this step up in class won't stop him. He will appreciate the ground.
COLOR SQUADRON 1335 Newbury (treble) – (2nd – 2-1) was the best hurdler out of these despite a couple of falls. Hopefully will have been schooled well and gets weight from Bury Parade, which should see him home first.
STATE BENEFIT 1410 Newbury – (PU) won over 3m at Sandown last time on soft ground and Geraghty is quite bullish about his chances.
Also having a flutter on KUDA HURAA 1545 (e/w) Newbury(UP) , SIXTY SOMETHING 1425 Doncaster(unplaced) , EMPEROR CONCERTO 1455 Doncaster (3rd – 20-1) and STORMY WEATHER 1315 Doncaster (UR)
