Tuesday treble

Here are my best three for Tuesday. Good luck if you're having a flutter.

BEST EXCUSE 1940 STRATFORD (nap) – (unplaced) the horse has pretty modest form recently, however it will appreciate the better ground and has shown glimpses of ability in NH bumpers. Handicap bow and I like giving horses like this a chance on their preferred surface.

BROUGHTON'S BANDIT 1740 STRATFORD (nb) – (4th – 9-1) this horse ran pretty well behind SEA LORD last time and should improve again from that. Could and should run well.

DEVON DIVA 2030 BATH (treble) – (WON – 8-1) record now reads 0-18 but is on the same mark as when beaten a head last time here. Chance if reproducing that over shorter.

BLOG STATS :

Naps 41/187 = 22%
Wins 167/938 = 17.8%
Placed 248/938 = 26.4%

Win and Placed = 44.2%

Wednesday Treble

Here are my best three for Wednesday. Good luck if you're having a flutter.

WARLU WAY 1635 CARLISLE (nap) – (WON – 10-1) this boy is on a decent mark considering his exploits last season and with conditions to suit he may take this. His eye catching second to NANTON in the apprentice handicap put him in my notebook and he has a good chance today.

ALMALEKIAH 2010 BATH (nb) – (WON – 7-4) is on the same mark as when he ran well in defeat to TUMBLEWIND. Running consistently well and could take this in receipt of 9lbs from DAYLIGHT.

SEAHAM 1920 KEMPTON (treble) – (unplaced) this one has run creditably in defeat this year. His run at Warwick was eye-catching behind two subsequent winners. The extra furlong may bring better out of him.

BLOG STATS :

Naps 41/184 = 22.2%
Wins 166/929 = 17.9%
Placed 247/929 = 26.6%

Win and Placed = 44.5%

Saturday selections

What a sad week it has been in the world of racing losing one of its greatest ever trainers. Sir Henry Cecil epitomised British racing for me, a true gentleman and a man who loved everything about these wonderful animals. Rest in peace Sir Henry.

Royal Ascot gets going next week, and with channel 4 covering every race we are in for a right treat! Today sees a couple of cracking meeting too. I'm having a crap run at the minute and am hoping I come into form for Ascot. Lets see what happens today! I've selected a few below and hopefully they will run well. Whatever happens, if you're having a flutter do so within your own means and enjoy the racing.

SANDREAMER 1455 SANDOWN (nap) – (3rd – 12-1) Morawij will be a short favourite here and is rated well above these. He ran very well behind my tip Kingsgate Native last time and is entitled to be favourite. My selection however is a bit of a forgotten horse. He won in Listed company last year in Italy and was runner up behind MAUREEN and ran well in behind RODSHU QUEEN on a couple of occasions. He is a decent animal and is a huge price!

LEWISHAM 1550 YORK (nb) – (unplaced) this horse was second in a Group 2 last season behind ALHEBAYEB and then never showed behind BLAINE at York in the Gimcrack. Ralph Beckett now has the training duties and he has given the horse a couple of confidence boosters this year. He has the potential to be much better than this level, and I'm hopeful of a big run.

DRAWNFROMTHEPAST 1715 BATH (treble) – (unplaced) has won twice here over 6f. Is fully 10lbs lower in the ratings than that last success, he has won on FIRM ground here before and is pretty good fresh. He should bounce out and may be difficult to pass.

FLEUR DE LA VIE 1705 SANDOWN – (unplaced) is dropping back in trip from 2 miles to her last winning distance. She has been dropped 4 lbs too. Crowley is on board who is a great judge of pace and she needs to come off the pace to win this. Massive price in my opinion back to her optimum trip.

STABLEFORD 1350 SANDOWN – (unplaced) this is a smart horse I reckon and was impressive last time at Yarmouth. I think there a bigger andbetter things ahead and he ahould take this.

LANCELOT DU LAC 1605 SANDOWN – (unplaced) the track is the reason for his last poor effort, he never travelled on the Epsom camber. Previous to that he looked at better horse than his current mark when winning smartly at York. A hood is fitted today to squeeze a little more out. Another at a big price!

LADYS FIRST 1515 YORK – (unplaced) ran well be DIAKALA last time and has some decent form lines with DANK. The trainer is bullish about her and quotes “he's never had her looking so good”. She has solid form over a mile and has won at Listed class – big chance.

Also going to have a little each way stab at HAMISH MCGONAGALL in the sprint at Musselburgh. He has solid course form and could run a big race. Having a little each way on NOBLE CITIZEN, NEXT EDITION and GINGER JACK too.

BLOG STATS :

Naps 39/175 = 22.3%
Wins 161/884 = 18.2%
Placed 235/884 = 26.6%

Win and Placed = 44.8%

Monday selections

Guineas weekend over! I thoroughly enjoyed it and fair play to Richard Hughes who finally gets a British classic, and how he deserves it. What a glorious day it is today for a change on a Bank Holiday! Enjoy it. Here are my best three plus another for today. Roll on Chester!

SPIC N SPAN 1745 BATH (nap) – (unplaced) has been knocking on the door recently and will enjoy the firm ground today. He has won over course, distance, class and ground in the past and is also well drawn today. A hell of a chance to take this.

MOONSTONE MAGIC 1650 CURRAGH (nb) – (3rd – 5-2) has been off since disappointing in the Guineas last year. She has won over the distance and will appreciate the yielding ground. A long absence to overcome but I think they have been sensible and put her away until the right time/race. Today s the day!

ILLUSTRIOUS PRINCE 1430 WINDSOR (treble) – (3rd – 11-2) is 4lbs lower than when taking a 6f race on good at Goodwood last year. The apprentice will help with the weight and he has never run in a class this low. The best horse in the race in my opinion and Declan Carroll has a decent strike rate when he comes down to Windsor. Chance!

HIPSTER 1635 WINDSOR – (3rd – 5-2) worth a chance taking this one to beat SEA SHANTY. The 6lb raise for the favourite may tell if my selection bounds out in front and takes them on. As we saw over the weekend a lot of horses went in from the front. They should go for the jugular and lead from the front.

BLOG STATS :

Naps 39/172 = 22.6%
Wins 157/855 = 18.4%
Placed 229/855 = 26.8%

Win and Placed = 45.1%

Friday selections

KING ARTHUR 1850 SOUTHWELL (nap) – (unplaced) good ground should help with this horse. He has had some good runs in behind smart horses including Chris Pea Green and Irish Saint. A mark of 110 is pretty good based on that for his handicap debut and he could run a big race.

THEMILANHORSE 1720 SOUTHWELL (nb) – (WON – 11-10) the performance of this horse was pretty poor to say the least at Doncaster last time. However he was really never going and it was his first attempt over the bigger obstacles. Ruby went easy on him that day and he has a 7lb pull with his conqueror and that I feel will be too much and he will take this race.

OSCARS JOURNEY 1800 BATH (treble) (unplaced) he is only 2lbs higher than when winning last time out. He ran in good race maiden races last year, including behind The Golden Cheongsam. He could run a big race first time out of a lenient mark.

Naps 36/161 = 22.3%
Wins 148/806 = 18.4%

Saturday tips

Again I had another decent day on the blog with two winners at Doncaster CERTIFY (4-6) and DICK DOUGHTWYLIE (7-2). Plus a treble at Chester courtesy of DAAREE (11-8), EVERLONG (13-8) and FERDY (2-1). I also managed to shop one at Sandown through GLODEN TEMPEST (5-1). However both my nap (FIRST POST) and nb (HENRY ALLINGHAM) were both pipped into second.

Lets hope some of this form continues into the final day of the Leger meeting with the big one itself. I used to go every year to the Leger but since we've now got 2 little kiddies it's a bit difficult. So I'll be sat on the settee watching.

Wednesday Tips

Not a bad start back to blogging with KHIONE (15-8) being the winning nap and DOTTY DARROCH (11-2) coming third. Very sad news today to hear that Campbell Gillies has lost his life. Such a promising young jockey who rode such a cracker on BRINDISI BREEZE at Cheltenham. Thoughts are with all those who know him.

Wednesday’s tips are :

EURYTHEUS 2120 KEMPTON – (nap) was progressive last season and won at Windsor. Had a pleasing comeback at Goodwood and is still relatively unexposed. Chance!

NORSE BLUES 1625 SALISBURY – (nb) has been running well this term and just didn’t get the run or room last time at Epsom. Ground is a bit of a worry, but must have a chance.

CELESTIAL DAWN 2040 BATH – (treble) has been running well of late including a convincing win here last time. This is tougher but she has got more to offer!

Stats as of 26/6/12

WINS 59/335 = 17.6%
NAPS 22/89 = 24.7%
PLACED 81/335 = 24.1%
WIN OR PLACED 140/335 = 41.7%

Saturday tips

A couple of thirds yesterday on the blog, with Charminster (5-1) and SOHRAAB (6-1). The soft ground is back with avengence again today. Below are my best three and a few more for today. I will do a tip for every race at Royal Ascot next week. Can’t wait for it!

ROGER SEZ 1510 YORK – (nap) (unplaced) won a group 3 at Ayr last year and has disappointed since. He must have a chance in this class and he will definitely have the soft ground. Each way selection though!

TAKEITFROMALADY 1420 SANDOWN – (nb) (unplaced) has been running consistently well and did the same again last week. Must have a chance again on ground that won’t be a problem.

TULLIUS 1545 YORK – (treble) (WON – 8-13) is getting better with every run. Will enjoy the ground and I can’t see him getting beaten.

As it’s a Saturday I’m also going to have a bet on these extra ones :

ODIN’S RAVEN 1405 YORK E/W (unplaced)
NAVAJO CHIEF 1435 YORK (WON – 6-1)
GO GO GREEN 1715 YORK E/W (unplaced)
CELESTIAL DAWN 1620 BATH (WON – 11-2)
COOL MARBLE 1615 YORK E/W (unplaced)
PENINSULA 1700 SANDOWN (unplaced)
TIP TOP GORGEOUS 1630 SANDOWN E/W (unplaced)

Stats as of 16/6/12
WINS 54/304 = 17.7%
NAPS 19/83 = 22.8%
PLACED 74/304 = 24.3%
WIN OR PLACED 128/304 = 42.1%
TREBLES LANDED = 2

Remember if you are having a wager to bet within your means. These are my selections and I am not suggesting you follow my advice, I only do this for a bit of fun!
