Glorious Goodwood Day Three

A blank was drawn yesterday other than a place for George Rooke. Kingman was impressive again and what a turn of foot he showed, accelerating faster than the mighty Frankel. The future of breeding for Juddmonte and Khalid Abdullah looks very bright with Frankel and now Kingman in the ranks. I'm pretty sure he won't run next year. Lets look forward to seeing him possibly a couple more times and then we wait for his progeny. On to today, good luck if you're having a flutter and I'll hopefully fair better than yesterday.

BROWN PANTHER 1510 GOODWOOD (nap) – I love this fella and the drop back to 2m will certainly help his cause. The ground is possibly a little firm and that may cause him a few concerns but I still think the form of his recent runs is the strongest on offer. ESTIMATE is a damn good horse but I think this shorter trip with suit my selection better. I hope the Panther wins too as it willbe nice to remember his mother who passed away this week. Hopeful of another big run from this lovely horse. I hope he runs as there are doubts until the trainer walks the track.

PUPIL 1405 GOODWOOD (nb) – the run last time behind the smart SEA DEFENCE was a much better performance and I'm hoping that that run was a reflection of his true ability and what is to come. He's stayed on the same mark for that run which is still 4lbs lower than his highest rating. This is a tougher race but I think there is much.more to come from this fella and the booking of James Doyle is a positive too. I always try and base my selections on form and previous runs and this guy comes her on the back of a cracker.

TALENT 1545 GOODWOOD (treble) – this girl was well named, but as of yet this year she hasn't really lived up to her exploits as a 3 year old. While the ground may not be the best for her I'm hoping this specialist track, with similar undulations to Epsom will help bring some balance to her. She motored at Epsom and she maybe needs an adverse camber to straighten her out. Hughesie is back on board too – I hope she runs to her capabilities today.

MAGNUS MAXIMUS 1650 GOODWOOD – won a decent race in April beating the likes of TOOFI and NAADIRR and was raised a massive 16lbs form – an indication of what the handicapper thought. He was next seen in the hugely competitive Brittania Stakes at Royal Ascot and never landed a blow. He's only been dropped a pound for that – again showing the handicapper thoughts of him. Despite being overlooked by Hughes today he's still one of the best rated in the field and has to have a cracking chance at a big price.

Brigadier Gerard and Sandown

myWPEdit Image

I thought I would do a little mid week blog for a few I fancy at Haydock and Sandown. The Sandown meeting is always a good one with the annual running of the Brigadier Gerard Stakes. The bloody weather is playing havoc with the horses and the going at the moment. Lets hope the next week is dry ready for the Derby.

BONNIE GREY 1840 SANDOWN (NAP) – this is a cracking race! My selection was very impressive at Warwick in testing conditions. She hardly even broke sweat and the jockey never had to move a muscle, she could be very smart and this race will certainly be an indicator of that. Cock of the North ran very well in the Brocklesby and a repeat of that would see him go close. Via Via caught the eye when going away at Ripon and the form of ROUDEE was franked by MIDTERM BREAK on Saturday. An intriguing race!

BROWN PANTHER 1915 SANDOWN (NB) – I love this horse, he has got better and better over the last few years and he could be a high class Cup horse to follow. I think he will have too much for these today and his defeat of HILLSTAR at Chester was a good one. This trip will suit him and I think he’ll take this quite easily. I’m intrigued to see how MENORAH gets on!!!!

ANDERIEGO 1550 HAYDOCK (TREBLE) – this horse hasn’t won for a while now but he is on a very appealing mark. He has some form on soft ground and I just think there were signs of some sort of a revival the first run out this season and this softer ground may eek something out of him. If he puts his best foot forward this is a winning mark for him for sure!

RACE TO GLORY 1420 HAYDOCK – has run reasonably well in a couple a maiden races over 1m2f and this step up in trip should help and I think the ground will suit him more too. This trip takes some getting here especially on soft ground and I’m hopeful of a solid run.

Glorious Goodwood Day 3

The revenge on the downs was the result of yesterday with Richard Hughes giving Toronado a peach of a ride. With that winner, I also had places for Excess Knowledge, who was very unlucky, and looks a good St Leger prospect. I also had a place with Parbold, who took an age to get going! On to today and my nap is the repeat of Tuesday, with the better ground after a drying out spell, I hope he runs today!

AUSSIE REIGNS 1415 GOODWOOD (nap) – this horse has been running so consistently this year over a mile. He ran very flat last time and I'm willing to discount that. He has won here before at last year's festival and whilst this is a step up on previous victories I think he has a race like this in him. The extra distance is interesting, and to see him entered so soon after a withdrawal makes me think he's ready to go in.

JALLOTA 1445 GOODWOOD (nb) – is ultra consistent and deserves a race like this. He has pretty decent form and a reproduction of his third in the July Stakes will see him go close here.

BROWN PANTHER 1515 GOODWOOD (treble) – I love is horse and he ran really well to take his return race at Pontefract. He should really enjoy the extended trip and has the speed to burn his rivals off in the closing stages.

A sunday treble

Royal Ascot was superb week for quality races, but as a betting proposition it was a bloody lottery, and I came up well short!! Never mind on we go to a treble on a very soggy Sunday. Good luck if you're having a flutter today.

QUADRILLER 1520 WORCESTER (nap) – (unplaced) I'm hoping this horse will kick on this year. I backed him a few times last year and he runs with the potential to win a race like this. The break will have hopefully strengthened him and the good ground should help too.

MISS CAP ESTEL 1640 PONTEFRACT (nb) – (3rd – 11-2) a solid reappearance last time on ground a bit too quick. Raised 3 lbs for that but that run will have sharpened her up and I fancy her to win this.

BROWN PANTHER 1540 PONTEFRACT (treble) – (WON – 11-8) won this last year and is still a damn good horse. He usually needs a race but still think he will turn over these today without one.
