Chester Day One

This is one of my favourite meetings! I love Chester and love the Roodee, it's such a unique track. Lets hope we have a great few days and a few winners too.
INVESTISSEMENT 1445 CHESTER (nap) – is now 2 lbs lower than when running to third place in the 2011 Ebor. Possibly laid out for this after some disappointing runs over the obstacles. This race has been won the last few years by jumps trainers and Mr Pipe won it three years ago with MAMLOOK off a similar mark. Stall one will give him chance to bounce out and get a good posse.
LAST SOVEREIGN 1515 CHESTER (nb) – has had two really good runs behind him and with the ground in his favour and stall one he must go well again. Another bonus is he has the king of Chester Frannie Norton on his back.
M'SELLE 1345 CHESTER (treble) – ran well to win first time out and even better the second time. Willing to give him another go here where the plum draw can be so important in a sprint, should be damn fit too.
HOLLOWINA 1415 CHESTER – will really appreciate this extra distance and he is bred to be a thorough stayer. Hopefully the ground will be ok for him and he should be staying on with a strong run at the end.

Saturday tips

Again I had another decent day on the blog with two winners at Doncaster CERTIFY (4-6) and DICK DOUGHTWYLIE (7-2). Plus a treble at Chester courtesy of DAAREE (11-8), EVERLONG (13-8) and FERDY (2-1). I also managed to shop one at Sandown through GLODEN TEMPEST (5-1). However both my nap (FIRST POST) and nb (HENRY ALLINGHAM) were both pipped into second.
Lets hope some of this form continues into the final day of the Leger meeting with the big one itself. I used to go every year to the Leger but since we've now got 2 little kiddies it's a bit difficult. So I'll be sat on the settee watching.

Sandown, Chester and Beverley

Love this photo of Frankel taken by Emma. Loads more of her excellent work here. Glad to hear that connections have not bayed to public pressure and have opted for the Champion Stakes as his swansong.
Onwards to todays events. Here are my selections for today.
DIAMOND BLUE 1545 BEVERLEY (nap) – (unplaced) her last course and distance win was impressive and the form has held up well with the second horse being placed and the third winning. Hope the ground isnt too tacky though!
BORDERLESCOTT 1615 BEVERLEY (nb) – (WON – 8-1) what can't be said about this old boy! tough as old boots and has been a real stable star. Didn't manage to get in to the Nunthorpe last week so goes here instead. Must have a great each way chance and is a real battler.
HASOPOP 1450 SANDOWN (treble) – (unplaced) has really impressed me with his gutsy wins. This is another step up but I think he has the quality. 7f should suit with his battling qualities.
I am also having a wager on the following :
MOHEDIAN LADY 1430 CHESTER -(unplaced) been running in better quality races than this. Prescott is a handicap genius over distances like this.
CATFISH 1415 SANDOWN – (unplaced) again another who has been running in better races and is taken to finally get his nose up on the line.
VIVA RONALDO 1505 CHESTER – (unplaced) is a course specialist and that is needed at Chester. Won here off same mark in May. Great each way chance!
EXCEL BOLT 1620 CHESTER – (unplaced) has a decent draw and I've followed him all year. Has bags of ability, needs things to drop right though!
CAPTIVATOR 1525 SANDOWN – (unplaced) ran well in the Spring winning for Fallon at Kempton and then unlucky at Newmarket too. Ignore last run – should be back to best.
LATE TELEGRAPH 1600 SANDOWN – (unplaced) is down in trip and a massive 12lbs lower than his last run. With that in mind he is taken as a positive each way chance.
BEACON TARN 1540 CHESTER – (unplaced) a risky bet. Well bred and comes from a yard that knows how to get winners here. Interestingly comes here for a debut rather than a maiden.
If you're having a bet – good luck and bet within your means!
Enjoy the day – hopefully a few winners here!

Super Saturday

I've had a break from blogging and mainly twitter as it was becoming a bit of an all time consuming task. So I've decided to do a blog just on Saturday's instead. There are some great races today and despite this bloody stupid weather affecting form and true run races, we should still have a spectacle of racing today.
Here are my best three, plus a few others!
HAMISH MCGONAGALL 1535 YORK (nap) – (WON – 5-1) loves it here and will appreciate the ground. Has yet to win this class of race, I reckon today is the day.
FIRE LILY 1520 NEWMARKET (nb) – (unplaced) again one where conditions should suit. Is a smart filly and despite running against colts, she must have a great chance receiving weight all round.
KINGS GAMBIT 1500 YORK (treble) – (unplaced) one of my old favourites and was short headed in this two years ago. Another one who will appreciate the ground and likes the track. Is back to that same mark from 2010!
I'm also having a dabble on these :
BILIDN 1645 York (NR)
FORK HANDLES 1635 Chester (WON 11-4)
FIRE SHIP 1340 Newmarket (2nd 10-1)
MAWAAKEF 1440 Newmarket (unplaced)
SATSUMA 1550 Newbury (2nd 8-1)
LUHAIF 1410 Newmarket (unplaced)

Stats as of 14/7/12

WINS 61/344 = 17.7%
NAPS 23/90 = 25.5%
PLACED 83/344 = 24.1%
WIN OR PLACED 144/344 = 41.8%

Saturday Selections

The racing today isn’t the greatest that has been offered over the past few weeks, and the ground is soft, which usually leads to big priced winners! Only time will tell! Another mediocre day yesterday with only NASEEM ALYASMEEN placing. I had my first dabble at selecting horses in every race in a meeting. That produced no winners, but 3 placed, not the best start. As well as my best three below I have done an indepth review of Newcastle tonight with selections per race. You can find it here.
So here are my best three for today, with a few others seen as it’s a Saturday. Good luck if you’re having a flutter.
DAN’S HEIR 1945 NEWCASTLE – (nap) (unplaced) has won over the distance and beyond twice and been placed at the distance on four times including on sof ground. Something wasn’t quite right at Catterick last time, chance to put things right!
PINTURA 1435 CHESTER – (nb) (2nd – 4-1) goes well here, won once and placed twice, prefers easy ground and has the plum draw. A lot in his favour.
TRES CORONAS 1510 CHESTER – (treble) (unplaced) is well drawn and has conditions that he will thrive on, won on soft twice, placed on heavy. Has won 2-4 on soft over 10f. Chance!
As well as my best three I will also be having a flutter on these :
ES QUE LOVE 1455 NEWMARKET (2nd – 5-1)
MULAQEN 1600 NEWMARKET (unplaced)
FATHSTA 1545 DONCASTER (unplaced)
GETABUZZ 1655 DONCASTER (3rd – 4-1)
EFISTORM 1900 WINDSOR (2nd – 7-4)

Stats as of 9/6/12
WINS 47/283 = 16.6%
NAPS 16/77 = 20.7%
PLACED 72/283 = 25.4%
WIN OR PLACED 119/283 = 42%
Remember if you are having a wager to bet within your means. These are my selections and I am not suggesting you follow my advice, I only do this for a bit of fun!

Friday Tips – Chester, Notts and Lingfield

This will be my last blog until Monday as I’m off to Stratford for the weekend and Warwick races on Saturday night. The crappy weather has forced Warwick to abandon their flat meeting, however, it’s a dual purpose course so they’ve scheduled an all hurdle card instead! Great effort and a relief!
This ground is playing hell with everyone’s tipping and form reading yet I’ve still managed a winner in JACK DEXTER (9-2) and a second in GABRIAL (2-1) on Thursday.
So, onwards to Friday.
HITS ONLY JUDE 1845 NOTTINGHAM – (nap) (unplaced) is 4lb lower than when running a good second at Southwell on Wednesday. That is another significant drop in the weights that must give him a chance on last years form. Has won on good to soft. (3 points each way)

KINGSWINFORD 1540 CHESTER – (nb) (unplaced) won well last time and has been raised 4lbs. Has won twice here and been placed. Has also won on soft and good to soft. (2 points each way)

AWESOME PEARL 1345 LINGFIELD – (treble) (unplaced) won well last year on the AW over 7f. Should appreciate this step up in trip and the trainer as always has to be feared!! (2 points each way)

STAKE = 14 points

RETURNS = 0 points

BANK = – 8.9 points

Stats as of 13/5/12

WINS 28/146 = 19.2%
NAPS 11/50 = 22%
PLACED 32/146 = 22%
WIN OR PLACED 60/146 = 41%

Remember if you are having a wager to bet within your means. These are my selections and I am not suggesting you follow my advice, I only do this for a bit of fun!

Chester – Day Two

Not a bad first day on the blog for the awesome Chester meeting. A nap winner in ROSSLYN CASTLE (7-1) who as stated in the tip is definitely one to follow and a place for CUBANITA (5-2).
On to day two, let’s hope the trend continues, the photo by the way is by the excellent Emma of Timepiece.
GABRIAL 1505 CHESTER – (nap) (2nd – 2-1) seemed to run on well in his comeback race at Musselburgh, and has always been targeted towards a mile race. Surely his last appearance will have sharpened him up. He is a top prospect I’m sure. (4 point win)

CALL TO REASON 1335 CHESTER – (nb) (unplaced) has won on soft over a mile and the extra couple of furlongs on this ground should suit. If he stays, then he has a real chance of a place. (3 points each way)

JACK DEXTER 1615 CHESTER – (treble) (WON 9-2 = 15.25 points) won well last time at Thirsk on soft after a good first appearance when coming second. More to come hopefully, middle draw could be an issue? (2 points each way)

STAKE = 14 points

RETURNS = 15.25 points

BANK = + 5.1 points

Stats as of 10/5/12

WINS 27/142 = 19%
NAPS 10/48 = 21%
PLACED 32/142 = 22.5%
WIN OR PLACED 59/142 = 41.5%

Chester – Day One

So here it is, one of my favourite festivals. Chester’s May meeting. This is a photo of Mr and Mrs Rooney’s horse PIPPY as tweeted by Tom Dascombe today. He’s currently a 6-1 shot to take the opener!
I had a great day today on the pigeonswoop, picking all four winners, some feat, yet I didn’t even put a bet on them. The prices were 7-1, 15-8, 8-11 and 10-11. Check it out via the link above, players welcome all the time.
Anyway, enjoy the meeting. Here are my tips at Chester.
ROSSLYN CASTLE 1645 CHESTER – (nap) (WON 7-1 = 32 points) won very nicely in a maiden at Windsor over 1m 2f and one to keep an eye. Must pose as a danger. (4 point win)

NEVER CAN TELL 1435 CHESTER – (nb) (unplaced) has won two races here and won from the front very well in last season’s Cesarewitch. Top place chance. (3 points each way)

CUBANITA 1405 CHESTER – (treble) (3rd – 5-2 = 3.25 points) won a promising race at Nottingham last time on soft after finishing runner up first time out at Salisbury. The ground should suit and I expect a big run. (2 points each way)

STAKE = 14 points

RETURNS = 35.25 points

BANK = + 4.15 points

Stats as of 9/5/12

WINS 26/139 = 18.7%
NAPS 10/47 = 21.3%
PLACED 31/139 = 22.3%
WIN OR PLACED 57/139 = 41%
