Two winners on the blog yesterday with the super smart J WONDER winning at 7-1 and PETHERS MOON AT 11-10. The final day brings us the Group One Nassau Stakes and the Stewards Cup. This will be my last blog for a while as I'm off on my holidays tomorrow, a week stay over in Dorchester in the caravan, then onwards over la manche to France and Brittany for a few weeks. The first time we've taken the van abroad, exciting times ahead! Yet the French can wait, on to the important matter of horses and winning some holiday coin off the old foe. Here are my selections :
MUTHMIR 1550 GOODWOOD (nap) – (unplaced = -£5.00) William Haggas was on fire last week, everything he saddled seem to go in. None were more impresssive than this fella who trounced the field in the Skybet Dash at York. I really fancied GOLDREAM that day and this one was the only one to beat it. He's officially 2 lbs well in under his penalty and that must be a tip in itself after last week. Should run a huge race.
CONFESSIONAL 1405 GOODWOOD (nb) – (unplaced = -£5.00) is just starting to hit some form again after a dry period. Interestingly he has a very good record at the track and was second in this three years ago and came fourth in a Group 2 here also. His last run behind KIMBERELLA is pretty decent form and his mark remains unchanged, he is currently 2 lbs below his last winning mark and is overdue. Today could be his day in a race that will suit his style.
TWEETY PIE 1810 DONCASTER (treble) – (unplaced = -£5.00) this horse is a blog favourite after winning at 66-1 to one for me last year and he has been running well of late. His second last week at York let me down for a big payout but this step back up in trip and his current form are big pluses, the trainer is starting to find a bit of form too.
JAMBOREE GIRL 1740 DONCASTER – (2nd – 8-1 = £5.00) the ground is key to this horse and he ran really well when second at Haydock behind HANNAH'S TURN. He has been dropped a pound in the ratings since a poor run behind WAR SPIRIT at Haydock, however the ground was soft that day. With quicker ground today he should hopefully run a better race and I'm hopeful he will win!
My Dad's selections are :
TATLISU 1405 GOODWOOD (3rd – 11-2 = £3.43)
ENLACE 1455 NEWMARKET (2nd – 13-8 = £1.01)
OASIS FANTASY 1440 GOODWOOD (unplaced = -£5.00)
MUTHMIR 1550 GOODWOOD (unplaced = -£5.00)
FATHER 10 – 14 SON
FATHER = +£37.11
SON = +£200.27
Abit of a soggy Saturday today! As we head into September there are still some cracking flat races to come which I'm looking forward to, however, for me September means we're nearly ready for NH racing! Bring on the jumpers!
Enjoy the racing today, hopefully there's a few pointers below for you.
RENEW 1730 HAYDOCK (nap) – (3rd – 3–1) has been upped 5lbs for a arrow defeat to GLENARD. I napped the winner that day but this guy was unlucky and the extra couple of furlongs should really suit. Big chance.
DARE TO ACHIEVE 1530 ASCOT (nb) – (unplaced) another one who finished behind GLENARD in the same race. He's about 6lbs better off today opposing GLENARD and I think he has more chance in a race like this, the cut in the ground may help too. Overlooking GLENARD who I napped last time may come back to bite me but I think the 6lb rise in a more competitve event will hinder him. Whereas my selection has been threatening a big win and today could be it.
CONFESSIONAL 1405 HAYDOCK (treble) – (WON – 15-2) has flown down the weights and is on a handy mark considering what has has been running off over the past few years. Seems to prefer softer ground these days and has won this race before, could bounce back today with a good run. Each way chance.
COUSIN KHEE 1515 HAYDOCK – (unplaced) has been running really well lately and this distance should suit as will the ground. Has a good chance considering the weight he is getting from the favourite, great each way value for me.
SWISS SPIRIT 1550 HAYDOCK – (unplaced) runs more consistently at 5f but has wins at 6f, including defeating Lethal Force. Whilst he has shown form over quicker ground he also has shown he handles cut. Hughes is the perfect jockey for him and I think he will deliver him just right.

Here is Friday's treble. Good luck everyone.
DARK ORCHID 1915 NEWCASTLE (nap) – (unplaced) not a bad comeback ast time in the Warwickshire stakes. She will come on for that and has sime decent French form to call upon too.
CONFESSIONAL 1945 NEWCASTLE (nb) – (unplaced) this horse is on a very appealing mark in light of past orm ad is worth another shot.
CHARLOTTE'S DAY 1815 CHESTER (treble) – (unplaced) the trainer has won the last two runnings of this and opted for this horse to run today. Chance taken.
