Wednesday Treble

Here are my best three for Wednesday. Good luck if you're having a flutter.
WARLU WAY 1635 CARLISLE (nap) – (WON – 10-1) this boy is on a decent mark considering his exploits last season and with conditions to suit he may take this. His eye catching second to NANTON in the apprentice handicap put him in my notebook and he has a good chance today.
ALMALEKIAH 2010 BATH (nb) – (WON – 7-4) is on the same mark as when he ran well in defeat to TUMBLEWIND. Running consistently well and could take this in receipt of 9lbs from DAYLIGHT.
SEAHAM 1920 KEMPTON (treble) – (unplaced) this one has run creditably in defeat this year. His run at Warwick was eye-catching behind two subsequent winners. The extra furlong may bring better out of him.

Naps 41/184 = 22.2%
Wins 166/929 = 17.9%
Placed 247/929 = 26.6%

Win and Placed = 44.5%

Monday selections

Not a bad day on the blog on Sunday with my nap coming second at 17-2, the nb coming third at 13-8 and the treble horse winning at 7-4. As always we start the week in search of a winning nap. Once Saturday and the Bet365 Gold Cup is out the way it's full steam ahead with the flat season. Ive just booked my hotel and tickets for Warwick's evening meeting in May. I always go there and love the place.
Anyway, good luck on Monday and here are my best three, plus one extra!
ST PAUL DE VENCE 1800 WINDSOR (nap) – (unplaced) was chucked in at the deep end for his racecourse debut at Royal Ascot last year. Won his next race at Kempton well and the four behind him have all won since. Strong form.
THANE OF CAWDOR 1650 KEMPTON (nb) – (3rd – 4-1) running consistently well of late and ran well in defeat last time. Returns to a course his has won on and I expect another bold show.
FLEUR DE LA VIE 1920 WOLVERHAMPTON (treble) – (WON – 9-1) knocked up a hat-trick of wins on the all weather last year and has won here. The last outing should have put her spot on and blew away the cobwebs. The stable are flying too.
An extra one chucked in today too SPIC N SPAN 1820 WOLVES – (unplaced) is still well treated and 2lbs lighter than when runnnig last time. A return to the form shown in claimers in this handicap will see him run well.

Naps 36/164 = 22%
Wins 152/819 = 18.6%
Placed 220/819 = 26.9%

Win and Placed = 45.4%

Tuesday selections

Well as the old saying goes 'You wait for one, and then they all come'! The blog on Monday produced my second winning nap in a row with THE OSTEOPATH obliging at 13-2. Coupled with that my nb ODDYSEY won at 8-1 too. A profitable day! Hope you were on! Can we make it a hat-trick?
PATSY FINNEGAN 1710 KEMPTON (nap) – (3rd – 13-2) I was really impressed with how this horse travelled when second at Haydock. A few mistakes were made that day, without those and in a class lower he has to have a chance. Is back near a mark of his last chase success and has won here over hurdles and has come second here off a mark 7lbs higher. The flatter finish should help here too.

IRISH BUCCANEEER 1635 KEMPTON (nb) – (2nd – 9-4) handicap debut and has a good mark. He is will improve for the increase in trip and has done nothing wrong so far, big chance.

TORNADO FORCE 1515 SOUTHWELL (treble) – (3rd – 15-8) won here the time before last and was only just pipped at Wolves last time. Is running really well and has another excellent chance of winning today.

Naps 36/158 = 22.7%
Wins 147/797 = 18.4%
Placed 215/797 = 26.9%

Win and Placed = 45.4%

Saturday selections

Here we are with another Saturday feast to look forward to. To be honest we are stuck in a bit of a transition between jumps and the flat at the minute, whilst I love my jumps it's time they got out of the way and let the speed boys take over. The usual marker for this is the Craven meeting and whilst that is no longer televised to my distaste, it's the start of the first trials and the flat season proper! Exciting times ahead. Below are my selections for today.
OUR JONATHAN 1530 DONCASTER (nap) – (unplaced) had an encouraging return behind JACK DEXTER here last time and just didn't seem to get going in time. He is in receipt of 9lbs from his rival today with smart young apprentice Robert Tart claiming 5 of those. Fears about the ground are more prevalent to Jack Dexter. My tip has won on good ground a few times and today he could be tough to beat. DUKE OF FIRENZE is my fear as he looks well handicapped and will love the good ground.
LOVE YOUR LOOKS 1515 KEMPTON (nb) – (3rd – 14-1) this horse should not be overlooked today, yet seems to be! Her form on this surface reads 3212113. She has been highly progressive, starting out with a win in a class 6 race at Wolverhampton and showed she was no mug when 3rd behind SENTARIL in a Listed contest last time. Big run on the cards today!
CLARET CLOAK 1615 STRATFORD (treble) – (WON – 11-4) this boy has been crying out for good ground all year and has suffered like lots of us will the wet winter! Today he should gt good ground and have the class to defeat these. If he doesn't win this then he has no chance at the higher level.
HIGHLAND KNIGHT 1420 DONCASTER – (unplaced) this boy has a real chance to take this and is 7lb better off due to his victory in Germany being before the 31st August last year. The form of that race is decent and I think the ground isn't quick enough for GABRIAL.
FENNELL BAY 1455 DONCASTER – (unplaced) I tipped this one up last time and he ran poorly again to be honest. He is still on the same mark here, 1lb higher than when winning at Royal Ascot. He has been gelded and if anything his last run may have sharpened him up, last chance saloon today!
ES QUE LOVE 1550 KEMPTON – (WON – 12-1) this horse is a real battler and has been absolutely screaming out for a longer trip. He is a cracking price today and I think he will battle hard from the front today and take this.
ALEJANDRO 1405 KEMPTON – (unplaced) this horse ran really well as a two year old over the shorter trip and his comeback run could have put him in shape for this today. Hanagan on board is a plus and he is a huge price and a damn good each way chance.
GLEAN 1440 KEMPTON – (2nd – 6-4) he has the form to take this through his performance in a Group 3 at Newmarket behind HAVANA GOLD. He also won first time out last year, is progressive and will take this.
THEOLOGY 1700 KEMPTON – (unplaced) he has been off for ages but class is class and his is 16 lbs lower on the rating today than he was a couple of years ago when defeated to TIMES UP in a Listed race at York. He could run a big race on his return – interesting!
Well those are my selections today with a couple of big priced each way chances thrown in their too. Whatever you're having a gamble on please bet within your means and good luck!

Naps 34/155 = 21.9%
Wins 144/788 = 18.3%
Placed 211/788 = 26.7%

Win and Placed = 45%

Tuesday Selections

This photo sums up my luck with two horses on Saturday, who with things being a bit different may well have won me a tidy sum. Anyway, we can't hold on to what if's. If I get the time I am going to try and do a daily blog again with my best three bets for each day.
Here are Tuesday's best three :
KEEP KICKING 1500 KEMPTON (nap) – (unplaced) has run pretty well on his two flat outings since he won a jumpers bumper a while back. His last run was promising as he was up there in the plate until he tired over the final few furlongs. This drop in trip will hopefully help and it is more in line with his breeding. Hoping tomorrow is the day to lose the maiden tag.
QUARL EGO 1510 EXETER (nb) – (3rd – 9-2) this one ran well in defeat last time and he is on the same mark as when he defeated COOTEHILL a few years ago. He could be ahead of the handicapper here and should run a big race.
LORD PROTECTOR 1440 EXETER (treble) – (unplaced) the form of his second at Sandown is looking strong after SHOTAVODKA, who beat him that day, went on to win again last time out. The third that day has also ran well in second again. Has a very good chance.
Hope these three run well, not a lot between them if I'm honest. If you are having a wager, please do so within your means and good luck!

Naps 33/146 = 22.6%
Wins 138/741 = 18.6%
Placed 193/741 = 26%

Win and Placed = 44.6%

Easter Saturday Selections

I thought it was fitting to have the blog photo of the great ALBERTAS RUN who I hope is going to enjoy a long and well deserved retirement, what a horse he was!
On to the racing and what a day of racing we have. The re-run Lincoln, Haydock and a super card at Musselburgh with a few old favourites, and then of course we have Meydan and the richest race in the world. I've selected a few from those meetings for you. I'm hoping I can keep the big priced handicap naps going on a Saturday. I have another big priced one that could go very well.
LANDSCAPE 1440 HAYDOCK (nap) – (FELL) this horse has always been held in high regard by his yard and he ran well when winning at Exeter beating BILLY TWYFORD. He franked the form a few times too. Landscape then won well at Taunton in really heavy ground before running fourth behind GEVREY CHAMBERTIN at Wincanton. He ran so poorly last time at Chepstow and that should be ignored. He has blinkers on today to sharpen him up and I think he will go enjoy this better ground. If he is focused and reproduces his earlier successes he has a damn good sniff.
HAMISH MCGONAGALL 1500 MUSSELBURGH (nb) – (unplaced) this guy is a class horse and has the ability to win this again. He does have to give Tangerine Trees 15lbs however. He has been running Group 1 races creditably remember! His last three runs here have produced three wins – that is solid enough!
PROPHESY 1615 DONCASTER (treble) – (unplaced) this guy is returning from a long lay off. He did however win first time out last season off a longer one. He has put some good performances in last season and this distance will suit as will the conditions.
CHAPTER SEVEN 1505 DONCASTER – (unplaced) I'm opting for this one in the Lincoln as he is progressive, goes well fresh and will enjoy the ground. Four year olds have a great record this and he is weighted similar to past winners. His run when beating LAHAAG at York was a good one and with luck in running I hope I have the winner. I have to also place some each way money on SWIFTLY DONE who has some decent form in the locker and will also relish the ground.
OUR JONATHAN 1430 DONCASTER – (3rd – 4-1) this one goes well fresh and has been running well over further, that stamina will be needed in todays ground and I think he will stay on better than the rest to take this.
CLOUDY TOO 1515 HAYDOCK – (3rd – 12-1) this one has some really good form including a course and distance success here. He has also gone in at Wetherby, I always look for that at Haydock as they are both similar tough tracks. He couldn't get close last time at Cheltenham and despite a rise in the ratings he can go well. People are put off him due to the better ground, but he has won on good and on good to soft.
TOP NOTCH TONTO 1535 MUSSELBURGH – (unplaced) his win at Ayr was impressive and he ran a good race after that behind WILLIE THE WHIPPER. He has some weight to carry here but I think he has more to offer this year and is a crazy price.
MR SPIGGOTT 1355 DONCASTER – (unplaced) this one has a good chance when reflecting on his second at Windsor off the same mark last year. He will enjoy the ground and has a decent draw.
I'm also putting a few quid on the following :
BALINROAB 1550 HAYDOCK (unplaced)
EXCEL BOLT 1425 HAYDOCK (unplaced)
RASAMAN 1645 HAYDOCK (unplaced)
KRYTON FACTOR 1545 MEYDAN (3rd – 9-1)
Enjoy today's action and hopefully I have found a few winners here. Can't wait for next week at Aintree and the big one. Happy punting everyone.

Saturday at Kempton

With a couple of weeks to the Festival stables will be putting the final touches to their hopes. I’m not into ante-post betting so will just wait until the day before finally selecting my horses for each day. It’s a shame Newcastle was off today due to more inclement bloody weather. I can’t remember such a period of cold and wet weather before. I hope we have a few dry weeks up to the festival and get good racing ground. Remember though if that happens that the form book can go as most big races this year have been contested on soft or heavy ground. The ground is good at Kempton today which will help good old NACARAT in what may be his final appearance. I can’t back him today though on recent form.

Here are my selections for today :

OPENING BATSMEN 1550 KEMPTON (nap)(WON 12-1) ran well in defeat behind ROLLING ACES last time at Wincanton. He has taken well to his fences and is on the upgrade. He will prefer the better ground and is in receipt of an extra 6lbs today from ROLLING ACES, with that concession and better ground he has a great chance in my opinion. That said there are still some other potential winners in this race other than these two.

IRISH SAINT 1405 KEMPTON (nb)(WON 5-4) won well here on his British debut and then just seemed to get outpaced by ROLLING STAR last time out. Another who I think will benefit from the better ground and he should have too much for the others today.

GRANDIOSO 1440 KEMPTON (treble) – (WON 9-4) has been a bit of a revelation this year and has been progressing well. His run away success at Ludlow was impressive last time and he has every right to have a stab at this level. Paul Nicholls has a cracking record in the race too with six out of the kast seven winners including NATAL and HERECOMESTHETRUTH.

LAC FONTANA 1515 KEMPTON(3rd – 9-4) got run out of it abit over the final couple of hurdles last week at Newbury. Not saying he would have won bumthe never got the chance, possibly why he is back this week. Another one on better ground should run better, I think he will win easily.

FILBERT 1330 KEMPTON(4th – 13-2) had a successful introduction to fences at Ludlow and whilst off top weight he is probably least exposed of all these and open to further improvement.

HAND ON BACH 1625 KEMPTON (unplaced) has been running in some hot maiden and novice hurdles against the likes of PUFFIN BILLY and last week against LAC FONTANA and CHATTERBOX. He is pitched in here for his handicap debut and he could prove to be a good each way snip. The stable won this last year too.

HENRYVILLE 1700 KEMPTON(unplaced) finished third behind PUFFIN BILLY on his debut and then lost in a jumpers bumper. Hoping the form of the bumper behind Puffin Billy will hold up against these.

PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE 1435 FAIRYHOUSE(2nd – 8-11) this boy is a monsterof a horse and one I’ve always followed since Graham Wylie acquired him. He won this last year before injuring himself and being ruled out of the National. He should be too good for these and this will put him in good order for the big on in April.

There we are then, these are who my well earned shillings are on today. Lets hope there is a winner or two here. If you are having a flutter do so within your means and good luck!

Wednesday Tips

Well I hope a few of you followed some of the advice on the blog on Saturday for trials day. CAPE TRIBULATION (7-1), AT FISHERS CROSS (13-2) and MR WATSON (11-4) were the winners. Aswell as an each way on KENTFORD GREY LADY (11-1). All in all it was a pretty good day, some great performances and some disappointing ones too. If it was up to me I'd put GRAND CRUS back over hurdles.
Anyway, here are Wednesday's best three for you :
EMPEROR CONCERTO 1510 LUDLOW (nap) – (PU) ran well when staying on behind HANDTHEPRIZEOVER at Doncaster last time. It was eye catching how he kept going up the hill after jumping soundly, hopefully that run will have blown away the cobwebs.
FLEETWOODSANDS 1750 KEMPTON (nb) – (WON 7-1) has been running better of late and this is the lowest grade he's run in. He is on a pretty appealing and decent mark. Blinkers may get the best out of him and he has a decent jockey on board with a good strike rate.
AMROTH BAY 1500 LEICESTER (treble) – (unplaced) is dropping back in trip and may well go off infront and not get pegged back. Will have a good tussle upfront with TOPAZE COLLONGES and with the extra staying power I'm hoping he will take this.

Snowy Saturday Selections

Don't you just hate this weather as a racing enthusiast. We should be all sat here looking forward to cracking meetings at Haydock and Ascot, but instead are left with a low key all-weather meet at Kempton. At least the top races from today have been re-scheduled for Cheltenham Trials Day, which is looking like an incredible card,
It's Saturday, and even though the racing on offer isn't great, I've got to do a little blog and have a flutter. So below are my Lucky 15 each way selections for today. Enjoy what you can today, with more snow forecast we may not have a great deal of racing over the next week.
DANCING WELCOME 1345 KEMPTON – (unplaced) ran a pretty decent race last time when I napped her. The step up to 7f may help and she is still on a decent mark. A place is surely on the cards.
ANGELIC UPSTART 1420 KEMPTON – (treble) (unplaced) this horse has won here before over the distance and has run in better races than this and most of the time over a greater distance than a mile. With a visor fitted to help focus, if he gets off to a good start he may stay on past others at the end of the race.
GREYLAMI 1455 KEMPTON (nb) – (2nd – 8-1) has ran at a better level than this in the past but has been disappointing recently. He has won a class two over the distance here and has also ran here in a class 2 hurdle. If he turns up he has the potential at a decent price.
SPINNING RIDGE 1530 KEMPTON (nap) -(3rd – 5-1) has had four wins here at the class and the distance and a little further too. Hasn't really run to his potential recently although there were signs of improvement last time. Hoping he comes good today.

Wednesday selections

Sods law was the order of the day on Tuesday. I picked two of Tony McCoy's mounts that on paper were his strongest. Of course they both ran terribly and his other less fancied ones won! Typical! The nap was also awful, so not having much luck at the moment.
Lets hope Newbury's card beats the frost as it is a decent card and I really think I have a strong nap!
RICHARDS SUNDANCE 1425 NEWBURY (nap) – (NR) ran really well last time at Doncaster for along way until tiring when beaten by HANDTHEPRIZEOVER, this despite a yard closure for Victor Dartnall. If he runs similar and up to the level he showed when winning at Exeter in November he must have a real chance.
FAGO 1320 NEWBURY (nb) – (WON 5-4) having his first run for connections but was second in a grade 1 chase at Autueil. Will like the ground and has decent form in France. Colour Squadron ran great last time and may have done better if the saddle hadn't slipped but his jumping is still suspect.
WHERE'S SUSIE 1815 KEMPTON (treble) – (3rd – 16-1) is a course and distance winner and has a decent mark plus a damn good jockey. Ran well last time when narrowly defeated by HONOURABLE KNIGHT over this distance.
