Saturday selections

Well the less said about my selections yesterday the better, not even a place! Onwards we go with some sorrow in my heart, the reason for this is my six week holiday has come to an end and I'm back at work on Monday! Let's hope I can find a few winners today to cheer me up!

BOBOWEN 1555 NEWTON ABBOT (nap) – (unplaced) he is up 9lbs for his very impressive win in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen. He won that very comfortably that day and looked like a horse on the up. Put a line through his run at Galway in the plate as he was never travelling and I'm not sure the ground suited.

LUPO D'ORO 1405 SANDOWN (nb) – (unplaced) beat Rocket Rob here in June and that form is rock solid after that horse bolted clear yesterday, it may have been in a lesser race but this guy also ran creditably behind the pressive Glen Moss last time out and I think he has a great chance today.

BAILEYS JUBILEE 1430 BEVERLEY (treble) – (unplaced) this horse was my initial fancy for the 1000 Guineas on the back of some impressive performances as a two year old. She ran no race in the Nell Gwyn and something was clearly amiss as she hasnt been out since. Despite her poor draw I think she has a great chance and has bags of speed plus battling qualities, and three year olds have a decent record in this race too.

DOCTOR PARKES 1420 CHESTER – (unplaced) is a course and distance winner and the ground and draw to suit today. He ran well and caught my eye when staying on in the final furlong behind Bogart last time at York. From his draw today he should be up with the pace which should benefit.

ES QUE LOVE 1455 CHESTER – (3rd – 7-2) this horse deserves to win a race soon! They've tried enough! He has a good draw today and is the class horse in the race. Being ridden prominent has really helped him and that should boost his chances today, he may be hard to pass in the Chester straight.

TEMPEST FUGIT 1530 CHESTER – (unplaced) will stay the trip and could have been overlooked by a few today. He travels nicely and didjust that when winning at Lingfield in a Lister race last time.

MERCERS ROW 1505 BEVERLEY – (unplaced) has a cracking record here and especially with Danny Tudhope on board. Ran well a couple of runs ago behind Bondi Beach Boy and has a solid each way chance today.

ASATIR 1550 SANDOWN – (unplaced) will appreciate the ground today and should improve more for the step up in distance after winning quite nicely over a mile. A decent priceto bounce back today.

Tuesday’s treble

Monday's nap HIPSTER ran a stinker, yet the nb got pipped on the line! Let's hope Tuesday fairs better!

Here are my best three for Tuesday.

BERMONDSEY BOB 1645 BRIGHTON (nap) – (non runner) has a great record here with a few course and distance successes. His second last time in a class higher was a solid showing. He is also 6lbs lower than his last winning mark. The draw is the only negative.

JEWELLERY 1830 NEWTON ABBOT (nb) – (4th – 9-1) course and distance winner and the return to this trip should be ideal for her and should bring out improvement. She has a real chance at this grade on her last winning mark.

LIGHT ROSE 2035 NEWBURY (treble) – (3rd – 6-1) won well on debut and there was something obviously amiss last time out. She has had a break since then and if something was wrong then, she could bunce back here.

Goodwood Tips

Seen as it's raining as I'm sat here on my holidays I thought I would do a little blog for today's racing. Here are my best three plus a few others!

NASRI 1405 GOODWOOD (nap) – (unplaced) ran well in fourth last week and is on a mark that saw him win some decent races in the past. A repeat of last week must give him a great each way chance.

IZZI TOP 1515 GOODWOOD (nb) – (unplaced) has gone from strength to strength is year and is the obvious choice today. Can't see anything else beating him.

PALACE MOON 1555 GOODWOOD (treble) – (unplaced) ran a couple of crackers on the all weather earlier in the year and then won going very well at Newbury a couple of runs ago. Is prone to bleeding, but when it drops right, has bags of class!

I'm also having LIFE AND SOUL 1440 GOODWOOD (unplaced) in a Lucky 15 with these, consistency is the right word with this one and loves it at Goodwood.

These are a few others at I have picked out too :

CRAVAT 1420 NEWMARKET (unplaced)
BRAVEHEART MOVE 1640 NEWMARKET (WON 9-1)
NORSE BLUES 1535 THIRSK (unplaced)
FAIROAK LAD 1620 NEWTON ABBOTT (unplaced)
ROCK GOD 1630 GOODWOOD (E/W) (2nd – 28-1)
DREAM SCENARIO 1455 NEWMARKET (E/W) (unplaced)

Enjoy the days racing! Hope we get a few winners or two!

Monday – A new week

Well what a day the blog had on Sunday in comparison to Saturday. The nap came in at a great price – OSTLAND 22-1. Then there was HALLELUJAH (7-2) who was second as well as HONEYMEAD (7-1). Finally my Declan Carroll e/w tip came good TWO PANCAKES finishing third at 16-1.
Lets hope that Monday continues in the same vein. Today’s photo is courtesy of the excellent Martin. His blog, in which he does indepth pointers really is one to follow. I suggest you do, here is the link.
TEMPLE LORD 1620 NEWTON ABBOTT – (nap) (unplaced) has seriously underperformed this year. Yet all of his last six runs have been over at least 2m 3f. He drops back to 2m here, when he runs at that distance he has won and finished second. A shorter trip will suit.
EFISTORM 1810 WINDSOR – (nb) (WON – 100-30) won well at Kempton last week and is 5 from 8 here at Windsor. Two if these were on good ground. Must have a chance to win again.
HEARTSONG 2040 WINDSOR – (treble) (unplaced) is two from two over five furlongs. Can go on any type of ground, will hopefully fly out and win.
Declan Carroll has a few going at Redcar, my suggestion is COME HERE YEW 1640 REDCAR (2nd – 4-6) has some solid form and should be able to take this maiden.

Stats as of 21/5/12

WINS 34/196 = 17.3%
NAPS 12/58 = 20.6%
PLACED 49/196 = 25%

TREBLES LANDED = 2

Remember if you are having a wager to bet within your means. These are my selections and I am not suggesting you follow my advice, I only do this for a bit of fun!
