QIPCO 1000 Guineas

Didnt have too much to shout about on the blog yesterday but thought KINGSGATE NATIVE ran well in third and that HIGHLAND COLORI ran much better and showed the spark is still there. CELESTIAL PATH ran a cracker in the Guineas from a disadvantaged draw and was really moving in the dip. He’s certainly one to watch at Royal Ascot! On to the ladies today and I had a cracking day this time last year with both the MIGHTY YAR and then GOLDREAM (25-1) winning on the blog. I’m hoping I’ve got a few again here. Good luck with whatever you’ve selected, sit back and enjoy and then we’re off to Chester next week! Love that meeting!
He has always looked a decent horse to me and despite wins with cut in the ground I think the quicker ground today will really suit him. He ran possibly his best race at Ascot on quick ground off the same mark as today. His run at Pontefract will have sharpened him up a bit and I’m expecting a winning run from him today.
I tiiped up GOLDREAM in this last year and I’m hopeful I’ve found another decent priced winner. SECRETINTHEPARK had solid C+D form and has won this and ran well last year. Despite moving to the yard that won this last year and will the beforementioned he’s a pound higher than his 6th last year and I dont think he’ll win. BLAINE found his old form ladt year and he has a sniff but he may be handicapped to his best. My selection isn’t though and I think he can go onto bigger things. He ran really well in the group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle last year behind DANZENO and followed thst up with a 2L fourth in the Stewards Cup. That is smart form and this quicker ground and better draw will help today! There is plenty of pace around him and I can see Hughesie striking late on him.
This is a cracking race! FINTRY has decent form but couldn’t beat INTEGRAL here last time, and she folded a bit tamely for me. BELLE D’OR is interesting and she could improve lots this year and the step up should help too. I have to opt for RIZEENA though, she has the group one form to bring and despite a disappointing three year old campaign she still has class and ran well in her last outing. She has a question mark anout the trip but I think she’ll get it.
With a couple of noteful absentees this race isnt as hot as it should be! Despite the poor ride on TIGGY WIGGY last time I still can’t see her staying a mile. She’s built for speed pure and simple. OSAILA has had a fair few miles on the clock but she has a solid chance today as does JELLICLE BELL who caught the eye last time. I’m opting for LOCAL TIME, while she has to improve for her MEYDAN successes she has the potential and is bang in form. She also beat a few types here in the Oh So Sharp Stakes last season and I think she’ll like this quicker ground. James Doyle has ridden her in her last four wins and I expect a boldshow again today.
I also like the chances of SWNYMOR 1445 HAMILTON, WILLIAM OF ORANGE 1405 SALISBURY and NAMHROODAH in the Pretty Polly!

QIPCO 1000 Guineas Day

Credit where credit is due, Dawn Approach was awesome yesterday. I really didn't think the ground would suit but class is class. It's great for racing too and we have a new unbeaten superstar. Whilst people are saying it's good for Godolphin too after their week, I think it's even better for Jim Bolger. What an incredibe trainer he is and really underrated.
So on to today, here are my best three and some at Newmarket
DANK 1435 NEWMARKET (nap) – (WON – 4-1) the ground is the key to this filly. She was very progressive last year and ran really well on faster ground. She didn't quite get in the race last time behind CHIGUN and THISTLE BIRD, but the ground was also against her that day. Sir Michael Stoute is in top form at the moment and I expect a big race from her.

MAUREEN 1550 NEWMARKET (nb) – (unplaced) this filly has done nothing wrong and I thought she was very impressive in the Fred Darling. She crept into affairs and stuck on well at the end. I think the step up to a mile will suit further and she will be up with the pace which will be important. Monsieur Peslier is called over to ride her and his quiet style should suit. Her ability to go on all surfaces further aids her cause.

CELESTIAL DAWN 1415 HAMILTON (treble) – (3rd – 10-1) has course and distance success and is back on her last winning mark from here at Hamilton. She is much better with a bit of cut and she should show her true colours under todays conditions.

FENNELL BAY 1405 NEWMARKET – (unplaced) has been raised 3lbs for a cozy success last time when his class told and he got up on the line. This horse has the quality for this if he settles and switches off, I'm hoping the confidence booster last time will have helped.

HITCHENS 1510 NEWMARKET – (unplaced) his run at Doncaster last time caught the eye and these sprinters go through snatches of form. The quicker ground will play to his strengths and he is handicapped as the best horse in the race. I'm hoping today he will win.

SEASIDE SIZZLER 1420 SALISBURY – returned to winning ways at Kempton last time and has decent form at and around this trip. The quicker ground will suit and with the yard in form I'm hopeful this one is progressive and goes on again.

Wednesday Tips

Not a bad start back to blogging with KHIONE (15-8) being the winning nap and DOTTY DARROCH (11-2) coming third. Very sad news today to hear that Campbell Gillies has lost his life. Such a promising young jockey who rode such a cracker on BRINDISI BREEZE at Cheltenham. Thoughts are with all those who know him.
Wednesday’s tips are :
EURYTHEUS 2120 KEMPTON – (nap) was progressive last season and won at Windsor. Had a pleasing comeback at Goodwood and is still relatively unexposed. Chance!
NORSE BLUES 1625 SALISBURY – (nb) has been running well this term and just didn’t get the run or room last time at Epsom. Ground is a bit of a worry, but must have a chance.
CELESTIAL DAWN 2040 BATH – (treble) has been running well of late including a convincing win here last time. This is tougher but she has got more to offer!

Sunday tips

Not a bad Saturday again on the blog. Three winners were given CELESTIAL DAWN (11-2), NAVAJO CHIEF (6-1) and TULLIUS (8-13). I’m starting to try and get my head around the Ascot runners ready for next week. I’ll do a blog for everyday including every race. It has to be the best racing action anywhere in the world.
Here are my three for Sunday :
CHIGUN 1525 SALISBURY – (nap) (WON – 9-4) ran a cracking race in second at Nottingham last time on soft ground. A repeat of that should result in his first victory.
TWO PANCAKES 1500 DONCASTER – (nb) (unplaced) ran a good debut in third in May at Ripon and the form has been boosted a few times too. Will enjoy the ground and Declan Carroll is my trainer to follow and a few of his have been running well again lately.
DEFINIGHTLY 1600 SALIBURY – (treble) (3rd – 9-2) ran well in second place on his return in a Group 3. The trip and ground are idel for him to come home infron today.
Stats as of 17/6/12
WINS 55/307 = 17.9%
NAPS 20/84 = 23.8%
PLACED 75/307 = 24.4%
WIN OR PLACED 130/307 = 42.3%

Remember if you are having a wager to bet within your means. These are my selections and I am not suggesting you follow my advice, I only do this for a bit of fun!
